9am this morning there was a distinct smell of diesel a block away from Hawthorne Canal Leichhardt , in Sydney’s Inner West. It wasn’t the first time. I had reported previous spills in the canal over the last 4 years. So a call to Fire and Rescue NSW local station had them to the Marion St bridge to investigate. The Hazardous Materials Unit was also in attendance.
